ZeroEyes Awarded $2M Grant from Pennsylvania Commission of Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) to Deploy AI-Driven Gun Detection Across Commonwealth School Districts

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 6, 2025 -- ZeroEyes, the creators of the only AI-based gun detection video analytics platform that holds the full US Department of Homeland Security Safety Act Designation, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $2M grant from the Pennsylvania Commission of Crime and Delinquency. This significant funding underscores the Commonwealth's commitment to public safety and innovation in threat detection technologies.

The FY25 grant, spearheaded by leadership from the legislature, has enabled ZeroEyes to expand its pioneering AI-driven platform, which uses advanced computer vision to detect brandished firearms in real time, into fifteen additional school districts in Pennsylvania. By integrating with existing security cameras, the system provides immediate alerts to law enforcement and security personnel, drastically reducing response times and potentially saving lives.

"As a Pennsylvania company, we are deeply honored by the Pennsylvania State Senate's support of our mission to keep communities safe," said Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes. "This funding will allow us to enhance our technology, expand its deployment across the state, and ensure that more students, teachers, and school staff are protected from potential threats."

The $2M grant will be allocated to:

  • Technology Advancements: Accelerating the development of cutting-edge AI algorithms for faster and more accurate firearm detection.
  • Capability Expansion: Scaling the platform's integration into fifteen K-12 school districts across the commonwealth and protecting thousands of students, staff, and visitors.
  • Community Outreach: Providing training and resources in conjunction with local law enforcement and school security teams to maximize the platform's effectiveness.

"Protecting our schools and providing a safe learning environment for students is of paramount importance," said Sen. Greg Rothman (R-34).  "ZeroEyes' technology is innovative, proactive, and will help to keep kids safe."

Founded by a team of former Navy SEALs, ZeroEyes has been at the forefront of proactive security measures, delivering AI-powered solutions to schools, businesses, and government agencies nationwide. The company's proprietary platform has earned widespread recognition for its effectiveness in preventing and mitigating active shooter incidents.

This grant reflects Pennsylvania's ongoing efforts to support cutting-edge technologies that address public safety concerns. It also reaffirms ZeroEyes' leadership role in the AI security sector, setting a standard for innovation and effectiveness in gun threat detection.
