NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2025 -- Nabla, the leading ambient AI assistant for clinicians, strengthens its ambient AI technology with the addition of Nabla Dictation, a voice-to-text solution to further streamline clinical workflows for more than 55 specialties. Built in close partnership with leading health systems, Nabla Dictation introduces new enhancements while leveraging its signature ease of use to work seamlessly across all EHR platforms—both within and beyond the Nabla environment. When combined, Nabla's ambient AI and Nabla Dictation accelerate speech-to-text workflows for clinicians seeking to reduce their administrative burden and focus on care.
In a recent study, more than 20% of clinicians surveyed reported spending 8+ hours a week outside of the office tending to EHR-related administrative tasks. The thousands of clicks that clinicians perform on these tasks have contributed to inefficiencies, fatigue, and burnout. Many existing dictation features require extensive training and custom equipment, which can be time-consuming and challenging to navigate. As a result, clinicians spend twice as much time on administrative work as on patient care. To combat this, health systems are increasingly turning to AI to streamline workflows–nearly seven in ten clinicians agree that AI has the potential to revolutionize efficiency in healthcare.
"Our co-development approach with clinicians – something I personally experienced as a clinician before I joined the team – is one of our strengths and differentiators that I'm most proud of," said Dr. Andrew Lundquist, Clinical Director, Nabla. "The advanced dictation capabilities that we're developing are battle-tested with customers and will ensure that Nabla delivers actionable value once we make Dictation available to everyone."
With an upcoming general availability release, Nabla Dictation will offer the same ease of use, intuitiveness, and speed clinicians have come to expect with Nabla technology. To use Nabla Dictation, users can simply install the application on their computer, log in, and activate the dictation option with a click or hotkey to instantly begin transcribing speech wherever the cursor is placed. Designed for efficiency, it streamlines note-taking, EHR updates, referrals, and patient messages, and more workflows with built-in commands and automatic punctuation. Nabla dictation can also be used with any computer microphone and is compatible with any existing dictation equipment. The tool will soon share some of the most valued customization features from Nabla's ambient AI, including dot phrases (voice-activated shortcuts ) and personal dictionary (custom lexicon configuration for precise recognition in specific contexts).
"As AI researchers and engineers, it's in our DNA to continuously evolve our AI capabilities alongside the clinicians we serve," said Laurent Landowski, Chief Product Officer, Nabla. "The new Nabla Dictation utilizes proven speech-to-text technology, which has processed over 2 million minutes of audio in medical environments over the last 12 months. It also leverages hundreds of thousands of feedback gathered over the years to unlock greater speed and accuracy. It's proven, tested, and intuitive, making clinicians' lives easier."
Nabla Dictation is available for purchase on its own or as part of Nabla's ambient AI assistant. It will soon be accessible to resellers through an API.
A Nabla Dictation demo will be available at ViVE (booth #1209). There's also an open call for users who want early access to the product to contribute feedback:
