Mountain Life Announces Rating Upgrade to B+

LEXINGTON, Ky., Feb. 6, 2025 -- Mountain Life Insurance Company is pleased to announce that it has received an upgrade of its Financial Strength Rating to B+ (Good) and its Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating to "bbb-" (Good) by AM Best. Both upgrades come with a stable outlook and reflect Mountain Life's balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as strong.

"We are proud to receive this credit rating upgrade, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, as well as our strong operational execution," said Jeffrey Breeze, President of Mountain Life. "This upgrade strengthens our ability to continue growing our business and further enhances the trust of our policy holders, partners, and stakeholders."

According to the news release issued by AM BEST, Mountain Life's rating upgrades "reflect a stronger business profile, which should continue to improve as the company executes its business plan. Geographic exposure is expected to diversify over the next two years as the company applies for licenses in most U.S. states. The product portfolio has been expanded to include multi-year guaranteed annuities (MYGA), though the product mix is expected to be concentrated in this product going forward. Distribution is also expected to improve, with an increasing agent count and strategic independent marketing organization relationships."

A.M. Best Company assesses the creditworthiness of and/or reports on over 16,000 insurance companies worldwide. Their credit ratings are independent, indicative and interactive, and summarize their opinion on an insurance company's ability to pay claims, debts, and other financial obligations in a timely manner.
