New Gonzales Facility Opens April 7 to Meet Critical Industry Demand for Safety Essentials
GONZALES, La., April 7, 2025 -- The Health and Safety Council® (HASC®) is proud to announce the opening of HASC Louisiana Gonzales on April 7, 2025, marking a major expansion to serve Louisiana's industrial workforce. This new location answers a strong call from local industry to bring Safety Essentials, the most widely accepted safety training program available, and other industry-leading training directly to the Capital Region. HASC Louisiana is committed to investing in the local workforce and community through expanded resources and meaningful support.
Since 1955, HASC Louisiana has been proud to serve this community, dedicated to workforce safety and offering innovative training and occupational health solutions that adapt to dynamic industry needs. The launch of HASC Louisiana Gonzales further demonstrates the commitment to building safe workplaces right here at home, providing first-class customer service, cost savings, and the PSM contractor orientation that our local industry has requested.
"For us, this is more than opening a new location—it's about strengthening our commitment to the state of Louisiana," said Sarita Scheufens, President of HASC Louisiana. "This region is home to a thriving industrial workforce, and we are honored to be part of this community, providing the training and support necessary to keep workers safe. Our legacy in Louisiana is built on service, and we look forward to continuing that tradition in Gonzales."
HASC Louisiana, formerly the Safety Council of Southwest Louisiana, based in Sulphur, Louisiana, has a long-standing commitment to serving and collaborating with industry. This expansion reflects a deep understanding of workforce needs and reinforces HASC Louisiana's rich history, deeply rooted in Southwest Louisiana.
Scheufens and the HASC Louisiana team welcomed Tyler Traweek, MBA, MS, CSP, to the team in March 2025, as Regional Director of Operations, East LA. A results-driven HSE professional, Tyler brings extensive experience in safety program development, regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety.
"With experience in both the industry and this community, I understand the training challenges contractors and owner companies face," Traweek said. "At HASC Louisiana Gonzales, our goal is to provide a seamless, high-quality experience that meets the evolving needs of the workforce and strengthens safety across the region."
HASC Louisiana Gonzales will officially opens its doors on April 7, 2025, with a grand opening celebration on April 15, 2025. The event will feature tours of the new facility, live music, refreshments, and networking opportunities, offering industry partners, local community leaders, and community members a firsthand look at how HASC is shaping the future of workforce safety in Louisiana.
The new facility is conveniently located at 3005 Cabela's Parkway, Suite F, and will be open Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 4:00 pm. HASC Louisiana Gonzales will provide flexible, cost-effective, and innovative safety training solutions, including live-proctored training available seven days a week, ensuring accessibility for workers and companies in the region.
