Fifth-Grade Florida Teacher Named Regional Winner of the 2025 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards

Fifth-Grade Florida Teacher Named Regional Winner of the 2025 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards

NEW YORK, May 13, 2025 -- The International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment (Cambridge) today announced that Isabel de Feria, a Spanish teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas Elementary in Miami, has been named the North America regional winner of the 2025 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards. De Feria was selected for her passion, creativity, and commitment to helping her students develop the global skills needed for the future.

Now in its seventh year, the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards celebrate extraordinary educators who go above and beyond to support student learning. De Feria is one of nine regional winners selected from over 5,000 nominations submitted by students, families, and school community members across 101 countries.

As a regional winner, De Feria will receive $662 worth of classroom books, a trophy, and yearlong recognition within her school community. She will also be featured on a "Thank you" page in select new Cambridge textbooks, available to the public in November 2025.

De Feria teaches math, science, and Spanish at Marjory Stoneman Douglas Elementary, a Cambridge School Center in Miami. The school holds a special place in De Feria's heart as it's where she began her teaching journey as a student teacher in 1995. A colleague who nominated De Feria praised her creativity and ability to support students in building essential skills like critical thinking and research.

"I'm incredibly honored to receive this award," said De Feria. "As a Cambridge educator, my goal has always been to design lessons that spark curiosity, foster critical thinking, and connect learning to the world beyond the classroom. I believe in empowering students to see themselves as global citizens – thoughtful, informed, and capable of making meaningful contributions. I'm also grateful to work alongside such inspiring colleagues who constantly challenge me to grow as a teacher. This recognition is a reflection of the collaborative and innovative spirit that drives our community."

The Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards highlight the important role that teachers play in shaping the lives of their learners and preparing them for the world beyond school. The program gives students, parents, and peers the chance to nominate a current primary or secondary teacher for outstanding commitment to student learning.

"At Cambridge, we are constantly inspired by the stories of teachers who go above and beyond, not for recognition but because they believe in the power of education to change lives," said Rod Smith, Managing Director of International Education at Cambridge. "It's uplifting to see the warmth and humanity that this year's winners have brought to their classrooms."

"These awards are a yearly reminder that teachers remain the most vital part of delivering a rounded education. Technology, no matter how sophisticated, cannot replicate the empathy, creativity, social guidance and sheer inspiration that a great teacher like Isabel can provide. I congratulate Isabel on her immense accomplishments, which I'm sure will inspire teachers and learners across the country."
