Centers Health Care Motivates Team Members and Residents with Innovative Therapeutic Approach to Movement

New Challenge Showcases the Meaningful Impact of Rehabilitation Therapy

Part of Centers' System-wide Commitment to Holistic Health, Healthy Exercise and Social Interaction

BRONX, N.Y., March 6, 2025 -- Centers Health Care, the largest and most complete post-acute health care continuum in the Northeast that touches one million lives each year with 45 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, is shining a light on their occupational, physical, and speech-language therapy departments. Partnering with BlazePod, a light-based reaction training platform, Centers Health Care's rehabilitation facilities are offering the BlazePod Challenge to showcase the dynamic new tools used in the facilities and how these interventions are changing lives by inspiring residents to move. Throughout the month, team members are creating 30-45 second videos to demonstrate how they are using BlazePod equipment and the impact of this novel therapy at work to inspire others to participate.

"Healthy movement is the foundation of the Centers approach to overall well-being, and our partnership with BlazePod allows us to take our focus on movement to the next level," said Kenny Rozenberg, CEO of Centers Health Care. "This challenge not only highlights the great work of our rehabilitation staff and the value of innovative interventions, but it is inspiring our residents to reach new milestones in their therapy."

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Centers Health Care to integrate our cutting-edge technology into post-acute rehabilitation and witness firsthand the positive impact it has on patients' progress and confidence. BlazePod is redefining how movement therapy is delivered, making it engaging and accessible to all," said Yaniv Shneiderman, CEO of BlazePod.

Centers is motivating hundreds of team members and residents to get moving in 2025 through the BlazePod Challenge. The BlazePod platform uses visual cues that stimulate physical and cognitive activity with light-up Pods controlled by an interactive app designed for multiple therapy fields. The Pods promote purposeful movement with improved cognition and have proven effective based on multiple studies at increasing reaction time that correlates to increased stability, decrease in falls and reinjury rates. While this equipment is readily available, the partnership marks its first integration into a post-acute healthcare system. Showcasing its use here allows both staff and residents to discover innovative applications for this engaging therapy and experience the benefits of healthy movement.

"This challenge demonstrates the importance of accessible technology like the BlazePod platform, enabling everyone to train at a high level, similar to professional athletes," said Travis Womer, Corporate Director of Reimbursement, Operations and Development at SigmaHealth Rehab, the training provider of the BlazePod platform. "By showcasing our residents using this technology in creative ways to reach their milestones, we are showing the difference accessible rehabilitation technology can make in inspiring daily movement."

At Centers Health Care, healthy movement is an ongoing goal, helping residents maintain strength and resilience against falls and accidents. In 2024, Centers achieved more than 2,500 minutes of movement across its network via a series of "Care That Moves You" events throughout the summer. In November, the system's Turkey Trot encouraged residents, employees, families and communities to stay active and healthy. Recognizing the importance of social interaction for residents' mental and emotional well-being, the system's "Care That Moves You" initiative incorporates group exercise and movement programs designed to combat isolation and loneliness. Ultimately, these activities contribute to a holistic recovery process, empowering residents to return home and thrive.
