CHICAGO, Feb. 19, 2025 -- AHEAD, a leader in digital infrastructure solutions, today announced the launch of its Hatch® Asset and CMDB integration for ServiceNow®. The application is designed to enable data exchange between AHEAD Hatch, the company's proprietary IT lifecycle management software, and the ServiceNow configuration management database (CMDB). The application is available now in the ServiceNow Store.
Enterprises, especially those with disparate locations and complex infrastructure needs, face an IT asset visibility gap – a lack of clarity into where their assets are, which assets are deployed and when those assets should renew or retire. This gap results in lost dollars through misplaced hardware and mismanagement of software renewals, which can have a detrimental impact on an organization's overall financial and operational efficiency.
The Hatch and ServiceNow integration provides full lifecycle visibility into all IT assets – by location – enriching asset data beyond what a traditional CMDB offers. The integration reduces waste from lost and undeployed equipment by giving a full view into asset inventory by location, tracking orders from placement to delivery and sharpening the view into asset and service entitlements.
"IT asset management isn't just about knowing what you own – it's about knowing where everything is, how it's being used, and when it needs attention," said Justin Formella, senior vice president of digital operations and client applications at AHEAD. "Our integration between Hatch and ServiceNow eliminates the blind spots that cost enterprises millions of dollars in lost assets and missed renewals, providing the granular visibility needed to make smarter infrastructure decisions."
Full View of Deployed Assets and Inventory
Organizational attempts at full lifecycle asset management are often throttled by the difficulty of gathering and managing all desired data - and maintaining it over a full lifecycle.
Hatch integration solves this problem by automating enriched data capture into ServiceNow and aggregating detailed data on all IT assets by their location. Enterprises can now see asset records down to the component level, including serial numbers, license keys, service entitlements and software/firmware versions.
This comprehensive asset view prevents over-ordering, which can be a costly result of an ill-managed CMDB. Additionally, it supports inventory and capacity planning requirements for industry-specific compliance processes.
Real-Time Order Tracking
When it comes to tracking ordered assets, IT teams traditionally have had no choice but to wait for an update from their procurement team or a delivery notification – with no other visibility into order location or status. With the vast numbers of assets purchased by enterprises, this lack of transparency can cost significant dollars and time if not effectively managed.
IT operations teams can immediately see what has been ordered – and when it will arrive at its destination. Assets are then tracked throughout shipping and delivery and marked "in-stock" upon arrival. By connecting Hatch with ServiceNow, teams can import and maintain detailed order information into ServiceNow, providing visibility into inbound hardware assets – particularly valuable for large multi-location enterprises.
Centralized Contract Management
Tracking numerous technology vendors, renewal dates and compliance requirements at enterprise scale is challenging. Siloed and out-of-date data make it even more difficult.
Automated, constant data exchange between Hatch and ServiceNow enables full-lifecycle contract management. Retired assets are removed from the renewals dashboard, saving enterprises unnecessary costs by eliminating the risk of renewing assets that are no longer active. It also provides a snapshot into which assets are candidates for replacement based on impending warranty expirations.
